Dog Standards Inc. (“Dog Standards” or “we”) respects the privacy of our customers (“you”) and is committed to protecting it by complying with this policy.
This Dog Standards Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) describes the types of personal information we may collect, how we may use this information and when (under certain circumstances) we may disclose this information. This Privacy Policy also details the steps we have taken to secure your personal information.
This Privacy Policy applies when you: (a) access or use www.dogstandards.ca (the “Website”); (b) access and/or view any of the video, audio, stories, text, photographs, graphics, artwork and/or other content featured on the Website (collectively, “Content”); (c) sign up for a subscription or to place an order, which includes processing and delivery of orders (the "Dog Standards Service"); (d) access links to Dog Standards social media pages/accounts on third party social media websites, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok (“Social Media Pages”); (e) enter one of the sweepstakes, contests and/or promotions offered by Dog Standards from time-to-time (“Promotions”); (f) utilize the Website’s features designed to facilitate interaction between the end-user, Dog Standards and other Website users; and (g) email, text or otherwise communicate, including offline, with Dog Standards (collectively, “Dog Standards Offerings”).
The Website may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins, services, social networks, or applications. Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow the third party to collect or share data about you. If you follow a link to a third-party website or engage a third-party plugin, please note that these third parties have their own privacy policies and we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. We do not control these third-party websites, and we encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU
For the most part, Dog Standards, and any third parties acting under Dog Standards’ authorization, will not collect any personal information about you except when specifically and knowingly provided by you. Examples of such information are name, shipping and billing addresses, phone number, email address, credit card information and customer preferences data. Examples of ways in which we may collect such information from you include the following:
A. Personal Information
Registration and Ordering.
Before using certain parts of the Website, registering to enter Promotions and/or ordering products, you must complete a registration form. When registering, you will be prompted to provide certain personal information, depending on the applicable registration form, including, but not limited to, your name, shipping and billing addresses, phone number, email address and credit card number. In addition, you may also be asked to provide your country of residence and/or your organization's country of operation, so we can comply with applicable laws and regulations. These kinds of personal information are used for billing purposes, to fulfill your orders, to verify entry into Promotions, to ship any prizes won in connection with the applicable Promotions, to communicate with you about your order and the Website, and for internal data modeling and marketing purposes. If we encounter a problem when processing your order, we will use the personal information to contact you.
Email Addresses.
Some areas of the Website allow you to enter your email address for purposes including, but not limited to: registering for a particular service, registering to enter Promotions or opening a Dog Standards account. If you choose not to provide your email address when prompted, you may not be able to engage in some or all of those services.
Information from Social Media.
If you access or log-in to a Dog Standards Offerings through Social Media Pages or other non-Dog Standards service, or connect Dog Standards Offerings to Social Media Pages or other non-Dog Standards service, the information we collect may also include your user ID and/or user name associated with that Social Media Page, any information or content you have permitted that Social Media Page to share with us, such as your profile picture, email address or friends lists, and any information you have made public in connection with that social media service. When you access Dog Standards Offerings through Social Media Pages or when you connect Dog Standards Offerings to Social Media Pages, you are authorizing Dog Standards to collect, store, and use such information and content in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Retargeting/Remarketing.
Dog Standards may work with third parties to allow such third parties to show Dog Standards’ ads on websites other than the Website and to permit third parties to use cookies to serve ads to you based on your past visits to the Website.
B. Technical Data
Log information.
When you access the Website, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the Website, track users’ movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. This log information is generally not linked to personal information unless you are an active customer, or have otherwise provided such information to us. Third parties may also use tracking technologies such as web beacons, images, scripts and cookies to track information in the aggregate on the Website for analytics purposes. Dog Standards does not control these third-party technologies and their use is governed by the privacy policies of third parties using such technologies.
Cookies.
Like most other websites, Dog Standards uses cookie technology throughout the Website. A cookie is a small removable data file that is stored by your web browser on your computer which often includes an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are used to provide customers with tighter security, customized content, tracking of orders and shopping cart items. Dog Standards uses both session and persistent cookies on the Website; session cookies expire at the end of a particular visit to the Website, while persistent cookies (also called stored cookies) remain active until you disable them through your browser settings, or until a pre-set expiration date. Unfortunately, customers who turn off cookies in their browser settings will not be able to use certain features on the Website.
HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us, including any personal information:
(a) To present the Website and Content to you.
(b) To provide you with information, products, or services that you request from us.
(c) To fulfill the purposes for which you provided the information or that were described when it was collected, or any other purpose for which you provide it.
(d) To provide you with notices about your account/subscription, including expiration and renewal notices.
(e) To carry out our obligations and enforce our rights arising from any contracts with you, including for billing and collection or to comply with legal requirements.

TRANSFERRING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
We may process, store, and transfer your personal information in and to a foreign country, with different privacy laws than Canadian law. In these circumstances, the governments, courts, law enforcement, or regulatory agencies of that country may be able to obtain access to your personal information through the laws of the foreign country. Whenever we engage a service provider, we require that its privacy and security standards adhere to this Privacy Policy and applicable Canadian privacy legislation.
TRANSFER AND DISCLOSURE OF YOUR INFORMATION
We may disclose personal information that we collect or you provide as described in this privacy policy:
(a) To our subsidiaries and affiliates.
(b) To announce the name, city and province of the winner of Promotions.
(c) In accordance with applicable law, to a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, acquisition, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Dog Standards' assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by Dog Standards about our customers and users is among the assets transferred.
(d) To advertisers and advertising networks that require the information to select and serve relevant advertisements to you and others. We may also use such aggregate information to help advertisers target a specific audience (for example, men in a specific location). We may make use of the personal information we have collected from you to enable us to display our advertisers' advertisement to that target audience.
(e) To third parties to market their products or services to you if you have not opted out of these disclosures. We contractually require these third parties to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.
(f) To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our business (such as analytics and search engine providers that assist us with Website improvement and optimization) and who are contractually obligated to keep personal information confidential, use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them, and to process the personal information with the same standards set out in this Privacy Policy.
(g) To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it. For example, if you give us an email address to use the "email a friend" feature of our Website, we will transmit the contents of that email and your email address to the recipients.
(h) For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information.

HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION
Our servers use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL is considered the industry standard and is among the leading software available to encrypt online transactions. Your personal information including your name, credit card number and address is encrypted so that it cannot be read as it is transmitted over the Internet. Regardless of these efforts, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Therefore, any information you transmit to us is sent at your own risk.
You agree that your information will be held by Dog Standards in Canada and may also be held and accessed by Dog Standards staff and third parties working for Dog Standards inside and outside Canada. If your information is gathered outside Canada, you agree that it may be transferred to Dog Standards Canada office to be used for these purposes, and it may be transferred to and shared with any of Dog Standards worldwide locations.
CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 13
Our Website is not intended for children under 13 years of age. No one under age 13 may provide any personal information to or on the Website. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use or provide any information on the Website, make any purchases through the Website, use any of the interactive or public comment features of the Website, or provide any information about yourself to Dog Standards, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, or any screen name or user name you may use. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at help@dogstandards.ca.
OPT OUT / CORRECTIONS
Upon your request, we will: (a) correct or update your personal information; (b) stop sending promotional emails to your email address; and/or (c) disable your account to prevent any future purchases through that account. You can make these requests by emailing your request to Dog Standards Customer Support at help@dogstandards.ca. Please clearly label the subject line "Opt Out / Corrections," and do not email your credit-card number or other sensitive information.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, we may continue to contact you for the purpose of communicating information relating to your request for Dog Standards Offerings, your participation in Promotions and to respond to any inquiry or request made by you, as applicable. To opt-out of receiving Dog Standards Offerings-related, Promotions-related and inquiry response-related messages from Dog Standards, you must cease requesting and/or utilizing the Dog Standards Offerings, cease participating in the Promotions and cease submitting inquiries to Dog Standards, as applicable.
POLICY CHANGES
We may change this Privacy Policy from time-to-time without notice to you. Your continued use of the Website after we make changes indicates that you accept and consent to those changes, so please check this Privacy Policy periodically for updates.
